Last Sunday’s Valentine’s Bruncheon at Steamworks in Gastown was a smashing success. We loved how the tables were set apart in the lovely room overlooking the harbor so we could get up and mingle with each other. Decorations were phenomenal thanks to our decoraring maven Amanda W. The food was fresh and tasty, with three different menu choices and a lovely parfait for desert, and various goody bags distributed by members.
Congratulations to Susan F who won the VOYA award for volunteer of the year, and to Ariadne B (absent) who won the CARO award for long term volunteer contribution to the chapter.
And then there was the entertainment. Our illustrious past president and long-time member Kate A MC’d with panache.
2014’s first-time published author Michele Fogal gave a stirring and inspiring speech highlighting the importance of following the call, and the mission of women’s writing in exploring issues of intimacy and relationships.
And then there was the musical interlude starring Pasty Cline (aka Wendee G) and her bottomless braziere. We laughed so hard we cried.
Let’s do it again next year, with a new crop of published authors at the podium.
