Welcome to the Greater Vancouver Chapter (GVC)
of Romance
Writers of America®. We are a network
of romance writers who strive to support and encourage
each other through all stages of our writing careers.
Our members range from beginners working on their
first manuscript to published authors working
on their 30th book. We publish a monthly newsletter,
sponsor writing contests, arrange regular Writing
Week Challenges, and hold workshops and seminars
to promote the craft of writing. We also meet
once a month to exchange news and hear guest speakers.

Holidays are about escaping the demands of real
life, and what better accompaniment than a fun
beach read? But be warned—you might actually
learn something! Writing fiction isn't just a
flight of fancy, often it involves a lot of research.
On May 12, 2008, come to the Vancouver Public
Library and learn how these three GVC authors
research and write their books. The speakers are
Eileen
Cook, Kate
Austin and Susan
Lyons. Admission is free. Books will be available

UPCOMING MEETING
Our next meeting is scheduled for May 17, 2008,
with speaker Liana Wright talking about her experiences
in the coroner's office. It takes place in our
regular meeting space: Ebenezer Baptist Church
at 53rd and Fraser in Vancouver. More

Most years we organize and host a showcase event
with a big-name speaker and appointments with
editors. Check out the photos

in May 2007 and featured author and writing teacher Nancy Kress
and editors from Harlequin Silhouette and Bantam Spectra.
Every February we hold a Valentine's brunch.
